Luis Enrique speaks about the Gerard Pique sleeves controversy

The coach hailed his centre-back and says that he can be whatever he wants to be in the future - but for now he's a player.

Luis Enrique backed Gerard Pique after the Barcelona defender announced he would be quitting Spain duty after the 2018 World Cup.

The Asturian coach also said that Pique can be anything he wants at Barcelona, but for now he is a player.

“I don't have much to say, I think Gerard explained it well,” said Luis Enrique.

“He communicated well and he's accustomed to gathering information about himself and he explained things well.

“He can be anything he wants with Barça, at the moment he's a player, which is the most important thing, in as much as he can influence things on the pitch, bur he can be anything, coach, president, because he's a big Barca supporter and he's very motivated.”
